Environmental Potentials’ patented waveform correction technology was designed to compensate for the changes to electrical equipment. With the combination of Waveform Correction Device and Surge Protection Device, Environmental Potentials’ product line offers complete protection and performance to your commercial facility. We are not living in a world of “incandescent bulb, space heater, induction motor” anymore. For convenience and energy savings, we moved away from these linear loads into non-linear loads such as LEDs, computers, VFDs, etc. In non-linear loads, the supply voltage is AC; however, the electronics, computer, and digital circuitry uses low voltage DC. These non-linear loads generate “switching noise” when converting AC to DC and DC-AC as an operating functionality. The processes of rectifying AC to DC, and inverting DC to AC, are responsible for generating 85% of power pollution.
The power pollution distorts the fundamental voltage and current sinusoidal waveform. Power pollution is wasted energy, accountable for downtime, rising maintenance costs while significantly decreasing the performance and lifespan of the equipment.

Protection from surges:
The noise from internal sources is 85%, while the external sources contribute the rest of 15%. Environmental Potentials filters can absorb and dissipate both the internal and external source of surges and noise, safely protecting facilities’ sensitive electrical loads.
Environmental Potentials unit uses self-healing thermal MOV (metal oxide varistors) to divert the high energy surge into its tank circuit. The tank circuit dissipates the surge energy in the form of heat. The additional low pass filter circuit helps smoothen the left-over ringing noise from the tank circuit; therefore, complete surge protection is achieved.

Environmental Potentials’ patented waveform correction technology has revolutionized power quality for the past 22 years. Previously, power quality devices focused on protecting equipment from extreme events. Extreme events are more than 20% above or below the peaks of the sine wave. These extreme events are created by lightning, utility switching, transformer failure, and large faults.
